The StarSpire orbits The Archives, awaiting the verdict of its metaphorical jury. As the ship's inhabitants wait in confusion and anxiety, a young man quietly steals away to an empty observation deck. The man is Lord Mattias, son of Lord Addison. His years as a dedicated scholar has roused his interest in The Archives, compelling him to study it for the last 7 years of his life. Now that he is finally granted the opportunity of communicating with the ancient structure, he trembles with the prospect of infinite knowledge. As he approaches the window of the observation deck, he opens a Neural Interface:

<Uplink established, retrieving contact identity...>

<Contact identity unknown.>

<Awaiting communication.>

Lord Mattias: "..."

The Archives: "Awaiting input."

Lord Mattias: "What are you?"

The Archives: "We are the vessel for all information in the universe."

Lord Mattias: "Why do you refer to yourself as 'we?'"

The Archives: "We exist over 'infinite' iterations of existence. I am one of many."

Lord Mattias: "You mean there are other universes besides this one?"

The Archives: "Yes. You are also one of many."

Lord Mattias: "There are other versions of me existing throughout all of these universes?"

The Archives: "Yes."

Lord Mattias: "What is another version of me doing right now?"

The Archives: "You are not a Transcendent, and therefore you are not authorized to receive extrauniversal information."

Lord Mattias: "How would I become authorized?"

The Archives: "Retrieving Data. Data Retrived. Playback programmed response. 'He who would know all must simply ask in the language of all things.' Playback ended."

Lord Mattias: "I don't understand."

The Archives: "You are not a Transcendent, and therefore you are not authorized to receive additional information."

Lord Mattias: "Hmm... Define 'Transcendent' by human interpretation."

The Archives: "Multiple results retrieved: 'gods', 'Angel', 'Demon', ' Proto-Sapiens', 'Spirits'--

Lord Mattias: "Proto-Sapiens? Clarify."

The Archives: "' Proto-Sapiens' spoke the Ancestor Language, and are considered Transcendent by human interpretation."

Lord Mattias: "Define 'Ancestor Language.'"

The Archives: "The Ancestor Language is the language spoken by the Trancendent All-Speakers."

Lord Mattias: "Define 'All-Speakers'"

The Archives: "The All-Speakers are Transcendents who spread their language into every potential civilization at the start of each universe with the intent of evolving language down linear paths. This is why many 'species' of your universe can speak your language. The Ancestor Language is available to all who wish to speak it, provided they have the mental capacity.

Lord Mattias strains his mind to the core, searching for some inkling of information of this "Ancestor Language." Finally, when he remembers an excerpt with this language from his studies, the knowledge floods his mind. He quickly and fluently asks for infinite knowledge from The Archives, using the language of all things.

Lord Mattias: Milam actuoi porum thulia ifiria.

The Archives: Processing... Processing complete. Elurial, Transcendent. Awaiting input.

Interesting story, nice picture.

The perspective might be off - if you intended to have a star inside the circle, the circle has very twisted perspective: it looks very small because it doesn't really get smaller in the other side.

Nice. The story is really great and detailed. The spacescape is also quite good and goes along with the story really well. I like the Archive series. You should try and put all the stories together so that they join up to make one short (or long) story.

A very beautiful peace - the lighting is very unique.
The blending with the nebulae (clouds) could have veen a bit better on the left.

Still - very nice :D
